About Natalie Meisner


Natalie Meisner is a playwright and poet from Nova Scotia.  Her plays have been produced nationwide, won the Canadian National Playwriting Award the Jessie Richardson Theatre Award, and been shortlisted for the Herman Voaden.  She has edited both PRISM International and Dandelion magazines. Publications include Growing Up Salty & Other Plays, as well as selections in several anthologies, such as The Yale Journal of Criticism, Lady Driven: More Writing By the Seven Sisters, Love Poems for the Media Age, and Coming of Age In Canada. Her poems have been featured in Grain magazine, The Nashwak Review, Pottersfield Portfolio, The Antigonish Review, CV2, and Room of One’s Own.

Meisner is an Associate Professor of English Literature at Mount Royal University in Calgary, AB. Her areas of teaching and research include theatre, performance, Canadian literature, theories of comedy and laughter, and the history and construction of gender and sexuality.
